TAV Airports takes a significant step in digital accessibility

TAV Airports has enhanced the accessibility of its websites for individuals with special needs through a collaboration with its subsidiary TAV Technologies and the local startup B’inclusive, which provides AI-driven accessibility solutions. With the new features in place, users with visual impairments, low vision, color blindness, or dyslexia can now navigate content more easily and independently using a personalized accessibility menu.

TAV Airports has added a new initiative focused on digital inclusion to its efforts to provide the best travel experience for everyone. As a part of this initiative, accessibility features were launched on the corporate websites of TAV Airports and TAV Technologies, together with the websites of Ankara Esenboğa, Gazipaşa-Alanya, Izmir Adnan Menderes, Milas-Bodrum, Enfidha-Hammamet, Monastir Habib Bourguiba, Batumi, and Tbilisi airports.

Kerem Öztürk, CIO of TAV Airports and CEO of TAV Technologies, mentioned: “At TAV Airports, our goal is to offer the best travel experience for our passengers in all the airports that we operate. We believe that every passenger should have equal access to services and we see this as a key priority. In line with our corporate values of responsibility and mutual respect, we adopt the principles of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Fairness as a crucial part of our corporate culture. We place these principles at the center of everything we do, not only in our airports but also in all our interactions with the stakeholders. We will continue to build collaborations to offer accessible, inclusive, and sensitive solutions for all our passengers.”

Accessibility features added to the websites include screen reader compatibility, high contrast and color blindness options, dyslexia-friendly fonts, adjustable text size, full navigation using only the keyboard, the ability to stop distracting visual effects, and easy language mode. The integrated accessibility menu on the websites allows users to easily customize their display settings based on their individual needs.

Since 2023, TAV Airports has also been working with the DANIŞ Visual Support Service, developed by WeWALK, to assist visually impaired passengers. As part of this initiative, visually impaired passengers can receive description and guidance support from professional assistants through a mobile application at the airports operated in Turkey: Antalya, Ankara Esenboğa, Izmir Adnan Menderes, Milas-Bodrum, and Gazipaşa-Alanya.
