#StandingWithSolidarity

The destructive earthquakes have hit SE Türkiye, and we believe that the only way to recover is through solidarity. In response to the tragedy, we stand united and are committed to providing support in every possible manner as a group. Havaş teams have been on the ground at Adana, Şanlıurfa, Adıyaman, Gaziantep, and Elazığ airports since the disaster struck, tirelessly working to help. They have served more than 1000 evacuation and relief flights, and with the help of TGS, we've dispatched support teams from other regions to the affected area.

Recently we have initiated a project to build two container cities, totalling 500 units in Hatay Kırıkhan and Antakya. 175 units will be through established through Antalya Airport in collaboration with our partner Fraport, while TAV Airports will handle the remaining 325 units. The project aims to provide accommodation for roughly 2,200 individuals, furnished with fundamental amenities including social facilities, a bathroom, kitchen, and two bedrooms.

We have been welcoming earthquake victims at the airports we operate - Antalya, İzmir, Ankara, and Bodrum - and addressing their immediate needs. Gazipaşa Airport ARFF team and TAV volunteers who have received search and rescue training helped to rescue seven citizens from the wreckage.

Antalya Airport, İzmir Airport, TAV Operation Services, and ATU Duty Free delivered six trucks carrying hygiene supplies, tents, sleeping bags, heaters, and other vital necessities. From the very first day, BTA dedicated much of its Cakes&Bakes factory production to support the efforts. It dispatched a around 100 000 food packages to the earthquake-stricken area. We are also supporting 11 mobile kitchens in five cities.

quote

“It is vital that international and national regulators support the economic sustainability of airports as crucial players in the health of the entire aviation ecosystem. Restoring the economic equilibrium of airports through financial compensation or through future airport charges is necessary for investing in the infrastructure needed to accommodate the growth of air travel and meet decarbonization targets, as well as maximize airports’ contribution to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals and wider socio-economic effects.”
