TAV Airports CEO Serkan Kaptan joined the ACI Europe Board meeting

TAV Airports CEO Serkan Kaptan joined the ACI Europe Board meeting in Brussels. The agenda included reviewing and approving the 2024 workplan and strategic outlook, as well as engaging in discussions with Ms. Magda Kopczyńska of DG MOVE on topics like the EU Entry-Exit System, Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) development, and the Single European Sky. Another significant meeting took place with Mr. Luis Cabra and Ms. Liana Gouta of FuelsEurope to explore current projections for SAF availability and collaborative efforts to improve it across stakeholders.

Serkan Kaptan at CEO Agenda 2024 meeting

TAV Airports CEO Serkan Kaptan participated in the CEO Agenda 2024 meeting organized by Ekonomist and Capital magazines. During the event, he assessed the 2023 performance of TAV Airports and the aviation sector, outlining the company's plans for 2024. The discussion, moderated by Nilüfer Gözütok Ünal, also featured industry insights from Güliz Öztürk, CEO of Pegasus Airlines; Atalay Gümrah, CEO of Eczacıbaşı Group; Berna Akyüz Öğüt, General Manager of LCWaikiki Retail; and Erkan Kafadar, CEO of Borusan Holding Group.

Franck Mereyde Addresses French-Turkish Clean Energy Summit

Executive Board Member and Chair of EXCOM Franck Mereyde spoke at the “Renewable Journey: French-Turkish Clean Energy Summit", bringing together sector leaders and professionals for insightful discussions on the future of clean energy. Organized by the French Chamber of Commerce in Türkiye, of which Mereyde is the acting president, the one-day summit began by the keynote speech of Fatih Birol, the Executive Director of the International Energy Agency (IEA). The first part of the discussions focused on demand, supply and sustainability in the energy market while the second part drew on green financing.

TAV Airports Extends its Membership in the Sales Network

TAV Airports has extended its corporate membership with Sales Network, a community committed to advancing the goals of "a better world" as outlined by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, with a focus on partnerships for goals, gender equality, and climate action. Since its inception in 2016, Sales Network has been the sole organization dedicated to offering tailored networking opportunities, events, and content for the sales industry. TAV Airports Deputy CEO and CFO Burcu Geriş, will participate as a mentor in the Mentorship Program launched by Sales Network. Through this initiative, she will impart her leadership insights to empower and mentor individuals, aligning with our dedication to fostering positive change and progress.

Havaş renews Riga Airport license for 7 Years

Havaş has extended its ground handling license at Riga International Airport for a period of seven years. Following the competitive tender conducted by the Latvian Ministry of Transport, Havaş has secured its service license for the third consecutive time. The company is set to persist in delivering a comprehensive array of services, encompassing passenger and baggage handling, ramp operations, aircraft cleaning, load control and communication, de-icing, flight operations, transportation, representation, and supervision services to numerous airlines.

“Exclusive Experiences” with TAV Passport

TAV Operation Services kicked off its 'Exclusive Experiences with TAV Passport event series with a Fragrance Workshop at Çırağan Palace . Moderated by journalist Arda Sayıner, participants in the event experienced fragrance notes, creating personalized travel scents along with essences that brought memories of their desired destinations to life. TAV Operation Services CEO Güçlü Batkın, COO Sinan Erem, and Executive Board Member for Marketing and Sales Aylin Alpay attended the event. The 'Exclusive Experiences' series, catering to the five senses from gastronomy to art, the world of scents, entertainment, and sustainability, will continue throughout the year at various locations.

TAV Security contributes to social development

TAV Security has been awarded the 'Contribution to Employment in Istanbul Award' by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Regional Employment Office for its workforce contributions to the private security sector. The award was presented during a ceremony where TAV Security's Marmara Region Coordinator Göksel KAYA and Human Resources Manager Hakan YILDIRIM received the accolade.

TAV Academy's global reach expanding

TAV Academy conducted training on 'Safety Management for Practitioners' for Riyadh International Airport employees in collaboration with Groupe ADP. This session, led by Prof. Dr. Ender Gerede, followed the 'Airport Business Development & Planning' sessions held in November. Within the coming year, TAV Academy plans to roll out a series of new training programs in collaboration with various sector actors.

TAV Technologies complete Abu Dhabi project

TAV Technologies successfully completed the IT infrastructure for the Midfield Terminal Building, now officially named Zayed International Airport. This project journey was characterized by the development of cutting-edge ICT infrastructure, encompassing data centers, LAN, WLAN, ICT security and software solutions. The result ensures seamless interfaces and integrations for optimal performance.

ATSO Award for Antalya Airport

The Aviation Marketing department of Fraport-TAV Antalya Airport successfully executed the “Winter Incentive Programme”, earning accolades at the 100th Anniversary of the Republic Award Ceremony organized by Antalya Chamber of Industry and Commerce (ATSO). The project was honored with an award in the category of "Organisations Adding Value to the City." GMs Deniz Varol and Gudrun Teloeken received the award from Provincial Governor Hulusi Şahin and ATSO President Ali Bahar.

N. Macedonian airports surpass 3M threshold

In 2023, Skopje and Ohrid airports collectively accommodated 3 million 149 thousand 274 passengers, marking a 33% increase compared to 2022 and an 18% increase compared to 2019. This noteworthy achievement signifies both surpassing the 2019 passenger statistics and the airports collectively handling over 3 million passengers for the first time. Recognizing the success of the year, the Minister of Transport and Communications of N. Macedonia, Blagoj Bochvarski, visited TAV Macedonia GM, Nejat Kurt and presented a certificate of appreciation.

  • IATA and ICAO have extended their long-standing cooperation on setting and implementing global standards for the safe carriage of dangerous goods by air.

  • Airbus has entered into a 50:50 joint venture with the Tata-owned Air India to launch pilot raining centre in in Gurugram, Haryana.

  • The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) of Saudi Arabia has launched the "Enabling Advanced Air Transport in the Kingdom" initiative. The initiative comprises a spectrum of pioneering solutions, from unmanned aircraft systems to vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) aircraft.

  • Oman Air is making changes to its network as part of plans to restructure the business and improve financial performance. The carrier is now canceling flights from Muscat International Airport to four destinations in Asia, ending service to Chittagong in Bangladesh; Colombo in Sri Lanka; and Islamabad and Lahore in Pakistan. It also plans to reduce frequencies to “certain markets.”

  • Amsterdam Airport Schiphol would need to reduce its emissions by at least 30% to be in line with Paris Agreement goals, a new report commissioned by the airport shows.

  • Following the European Commission's (EC) launch of a Stage II investigation into Lufthansa and ITA, a parallel examination will be carried out for the International Airlines Group's (IAG) intended acquisition of the Spanish operator Air Europa.

  • Cathay joins Hong Kong-based SAF coalition. The Hong Kong Sustainable Aviation Fuel Coalition (HKSAFC), “aims to facilitate the adoption of SAF” in Hong Kong and is hoping to do so through research and engagement, as well as raising public awareness on the benefits and challenges of using SAF.

  • US carrier JetBlue Airways plans to replace chief operating officer Joanna Geraghty with long-time executive Warren Christie when Geraghty assumes leadership of the company on 12 February.

  • The FAA has paused Boeing MAX production expansion to enhance quality control. Additionally, a comprehensive inspection and maintenance process has been outlined to facilitate the return to service of Boeing 737-9 MAX aircraft.
