Elsa Pekmez Atan holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Bogazici University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Ms. Atan began her career in 1999 at the Istanbul office of McKinsey & Company, specializing in retail banking and payment systems. After working in various roles on
projects in Türkiye, Europe, and the Middle East for nearly 10 years, she joined Finansbank in 2010. At Finansbank, she led the founding team of enpara.com, Türkiye’s
first and only digital bank, and subsequently served as Executive Vice President responsible for enpara.com  and Customer Experience. Between 2012 and 2017, while focusing on the healthy and sustainable growth of enpara.com, expanding its products and services, and reaching over one million customers, she also worked on extending the customer experience practices that had established enpara.com as a “lovemark” in the market to Finansbank’s other retail business lines. The founding and growth story of enpara.com was documented as a case study at Harvard Business School in 2017.

In 2017, Ms. Atan moved to the UK and joined Facebook (Meta) as a manager responsible for partnerships and business development with financial institutions and payment companies. She then joined the Banco Santander group in 2018, taking on various roles in digital business and product development. From 2020 to 2025, she served as Managing Director (MD) for Digital Channels, Processes, and Customer Experience at Santander UK.
